Interesting story , I was out strolling with my assistant looking for just the right thing to excite us, when all of a sudden, across the store, there it was! Our pulse was racing as we approached this perfect specimen: it had everything- great feel, color, lasting durability and the size.... well, it was big, but, was it big enough to handle both jobs we had in mind? So what are two anxious dames on the hunt for something fantastic for on the floor to do?
(Take a breath y'all- I'm talking about carpet. What were you thinking?)
Let me explain, we were carpet shopping, looking for something fresh, little edgy and different (oh boy I can see how we got here).
Beautiful new basement in the need of two area rugs: one very large one for the TV area and a round for under a game table. Knowing that we had to look at broadloom, we always like to look at the remnants at our favorite carpet store. Number one- because you know its in stock (no waiting for shipments!) and two- the price is always good (they are leftover pieces) But on the flip side, what you see is sometimes all they have (the remnants may be closeouts- so back to #1: no waiting on shipments).
As it turns out there wasn't enough for us to do both, so after a few swigs of our cappuccinos, (our brain fuel) and discussion with the sales team, we came up with a "make it work" moment- adding borders to the piece we had left for the game table rug! We found fun shags in two colors that complimented the center and the shags are slightly different heights so we created a awesome dimensional look. And it gets better-we used one of the shags as a long runner in another location in the space- what a tie in!
We love the finished product! |
